What room 2 would have looked like...
What room 2 would have looked like... We had a great couple of days dressed up like they did in the past. We had to line up outside before school and stand behind our desks until we were told to sit down.

Art Gallery
At the art gallery we had the opportunity to have a go on small blackboards to practice our handwriting.
Then we used dye and pastel to draw a classroom with a grumpy teacher in it. This was lots of fun and they look great.
A BIG thank you to all the parent helpers who made this day a great learning experience.

Early Settlers Museum
Our topic for term 3 is called 'Footprints from the past'. We are researching and finding out what school life was like 150 years ago. (We will be celebrating the schools 150th birthday later this term and term 4).
Our visit to the Early Settlers Museum was a great insight into how the early families arrived from Scotland to Dunedin on a boat. Spending roughly 6 months at sea in close quarters would have been hard work.

If I were a....
If I were a colour,
I'd be yellow,
because it is the sign of happiness.
If I were a season,
I'd be spring,
because I could watch the flowers bloom slowly and pleasantly.
If I were a animal,
I'd be a tiger,
because nothing could beat the strength of my pounces and jumps.
If I were a hope,
I'd be tear on your face,
so I could slide down your cheek like a slide.
If I were a character,
I'd be a funny one,
so I could watch the children laugh until their heart breaks.
If I were a time of day,
I'd be dawn,
so i could crack frost into tiny little pieces.
If I were a city,
I'd be a busy one,
so I could watch cars zoom past me with power and energy.

Nikki Pattin
Nikki is over visiting from America for the fringe festival. She came to Room 2 and shared some of her poetry with us. She is very good at tongue twisters.
Try saying 'toy boat' 5 times, fast, and 'red leather yellow leather' 5 times fast. Its harder than you think.

Otago Swimming Champs
On Saturday the 28th March Samantha, Emma and Jody represented Macandrew Bay School at the Otago Swimming champs. We were both really nervous before we raced. (I had bats in my stomach-Emma) And once we finish we were shaking with excitement. There were so many children there from lots of different schools. Nearly 400 children compeated in the freestyle race. We had fun and look forward to it next year.
